Hendrick Hudson Budget Includes Tax Levy Decrease

Proposed school budget features a decrease in spending of almost 2%.

The proposed budget for the Hendrick Hudson School District for 2016-2017 calls for a decrease of 0.5 percent in the districtwide tax levy.

The total proposed budget for the district is $75,874,366, up from $74,407,338 in the 2015-2016 budget, which is a 1.97 percent increase.The budget will be available to residents on April 24 and there will be a public hearing on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

The budget calls for several increases in programming and staffing, which includes a reading teacher and an enrichment teacher for grades 1-5 and a social worker in the high school.

The vote on the budget will be held on Tuesday, May 17, at F.G. Lindsey School. There is more information on the budget at the district’s website.
