Jim Breuer at the Paramount, Vote for Dream Cakes, Kay Moshier Service

Here are five things you need to know today, Sept. 28.

1.    Vote for Dream Cakes Bakery
Dream Cakes Bakery entered a Radio City Christmas Spectacular cake-making contest in which the public decides which cake wins. Help the Peekskill bakery win by voting for their brilliant creation here.


2. Peekskill-Put Vall Football Game
This past Saturday’s Peekskill-Putnam Valley Football game will be aired on MSG Varsity on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.

3.    Ford Piano Italian Jazz Days
We paid a visit to John Ford this week and are getting excited about his upcoming third annual Italian Jazz Days, featuring Antonio Ciacci and a quintet.

4.    Kay Moshier Service
Peekskill lost one of its great community members last week when Kathleen “Kay” Moshier passed away at age 91. Moshier was a an active Peekskillian, involved with many different community boards and groups, and dedicated to providing quality housing for African-Americans in her Howard Street neighborhood.

Visitation hours will be on Friday, Sept. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on North Division Street at 10 a.m. Saturday. Visit E.O. Curry Funeral Home’s website for more details.

5.    New Jim Breuer Date at the Paramount
Famous comedian Jim Breuer’s originally scheduled show at the Paramount Center for the Arts was canceled due to Hurricane Irene, but the show has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. Visit the Paramount website for more information.
