Mahopac Man Busted for Narcotics Trafficking: Cocaine, Prescription Pills, Marijuana

Mahopac man arrested for an ounce of cocaine, $1,400, narcotics paraphernalia, packaging materials, prescription medications, and a sophisticated 24-hour security system he used to monitor his premises.

The following information was provided by the Putnam County Sheriff Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 44 year-old Mahopac resident on criminal charges stemming from a two-month investigation into trafficking narcotics in Putnam County.

An undercover investigator assigned to the Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit obtained information that Emil E. Kocinsky of Concord Road, Mahopac, New York was selling prescription pain medication, marijuana and cocaine from his home.  Investigators monitored Mr. Kocinsky’s activities which enabled an undercover investigator to infiltrate his operation.  After gaining his confidence, Mr. Kocinsky sold an assortment of illegal drugs to the investigator.

On October 21, 2011, Mr. Kocinsky was observed outside his residence where he was taken into custody without incident.

Armed with a search warrant, narcotics officers entered Mr. Kocinsky’s home.  They seized an assortment of narcotics paraphernalia, packaging materials, prescription medications, an ounce of cocaine, $1,400 in United States currency and a sophisticated covert twenty-four hour security and monitoring system allowing him to keep an eye on the exterior of his premises.

Mr. Kocinsky was charged with: four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree; four counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree; Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree.  All the criminal charges lodged are felony crimes ranging from class “D” to a class “A-II” felonies.

Mr. Kocinsky has an extensive criminal history to include prior narcotics-related, firearms and explosives convictions.  He was arraigned before Carmel Town Justice Thomas Jacobellis and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail.
