New Paramount Director, Garden Club Plants Daffodils, Yom Kippur
Here are five things you need to know for the weekend, Oct. 7-9.

1.   New Executive Director at the Paramount
The Board of Directors for the Paramount Center for the Arts (PCA) in Peekskill announced Thursday that Lisa Reiss has been appointed as the organization’s new Executive Director. Reiss worked most recently as the Executive Director of TIPAF at the Clayton Opera House. Former Director Pat Braja has taken a position at the Westchester Library System.

2.   Garden Club to Plant 10,000 Daffodil Bulbs
The Peekskill Garden Club will be planting 10,000 daffodil bulbs this Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help dig holes and drop in bulbs. More information here.
3.   Yom Kippur
The Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur begins at sunset today. It is a day of prayer, fasting and no luxuries, referred to as the Day of Atonement.
4.   Columbus Day
Monday is Columbus Day, a celebration of the day Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas. Public schools will be closed Monday. Don’t forget the is running until Monday at the Peekskill River Front Green.
5.   Crisp, Clear Fall Weekend
