Police: Cortlandt Man Pulls Knife on Walmart Security Over Beer

The man allegedly drew a knife after security confronted him about a stolen 18-pack of Bud.

New York State Police arrested a Cortlandt Manor man after he allegedly threatened security with a knife after stealing a case of beer, police report.

The suspect, Christopher Acebal, 46, allegedly stole an 18-pack of Budweiser from the Mohegan Lake Walmart on Saturday, June 16, around 3:25 p.m. As he attempted to flee the store, a Walmart security officer confronted him. Acebal produced a knife and threatened the officer with the knife and then fled into the parking lot, where he was quickly apprehended by Cortlandt State Police units.

Acebal was charged with one count of first-degree robbery and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He is due to reappear in Cortlandt Town Court on Monday, June 18, at 9:00 a.m. Additional charges are possible at that time. The arrest was made by Trooper Charles Fontanelli and Investigator Sean J. Morgan.
