Over the last two years, the Peekskill City Council has considered many different points of view regarding tattoo parlors and the logistics and regulations that go along with allowing such businesses in the city.
In February, the City Council on where tattoo parlors should be allowed and instructed the staff to draft regulations so that they would not be allowed downtown. Since then, a second public hearing was held, where more than two dozen citizens spoke in favor of allowing the business downtown. At the most recent public hearing the Council heard little opposition to repealing the tattoo parlor ban and adopting a law that will allow tattoo parlors in Peekskill's downtown, commercial and industrial districts.

The Council will take the public comments they heard into consideration and eventually either pass a resolution that lifts the ban and allows tattoo parlors back in the city, or leave the ban in place.
