Question of the Day: Is It Dangerous Off School Campus?

Peekskill high school is now enforcing its closed campus policy. How dangerous is it out there?

Peekskill High School is now enforcing its closed campus policy, to the chagrin of many students.

The Superintendent and principal say that the policy is to protect the children and keep them safe and secure. Students say they feel an element of freedom has been removed and that their safety is not at risk when they go off campus.

Superintendent James Willis offers this analogy: "No one likes to take their shoes off at the airport but we do it for safety and security."

Willis said he understands that students do not like the policy, but that it is his job to keep them safe while they are in school and "it is not about the popular decision, but about the right decision."

What do you think is the biggest risk students face when going off campus? Is there any risk at all? Tell us in the comments or take our poll.
