Each October, Red Ribbon Week is celebrated at Hendrick Hudson High School. This activity provides the student body and faculty with an opportunity to renew their commitment to a healthy and drug-free lifestyle and to show their dedication to education and prevention efforts.Â
Monday, October 24, was the kick off for this year’s Red Ribbon Week. Hen Hud was awash with RED and various activities were planned for the week. The SADD Club (Students Against Destructive Decisions), along with club moderator, Angela Alvarado, read facts about drugs and alcohol during morning announcements and the Physical Education classes held tournaments to promote healthy lifestyles.Â

Red Ribbons were available to all students and faculty to wear to remind us all of the need to promote awareness of the debilitating effects of drugs and alcohol on families and individuals. Large RED ribbons were placed around the school hallways.Â
During lunch periods on Monday, the SADD Club members asked students to sign a pledge to be drug free and join the chain of life. On Friday, students sold lollipops and Twizzlers that had drug free messages on them to provide funding for speakers who will address students and parent groups throughout the school year.Â
