Peekskill Police: Shots Fired on Smith Street

Peekskill city police are a investigating a report of firing multiple gunshots in the area of Smith Street early Sunday.

At about 3 a.m. Sunday, police received a report of four or five gunshots in the area of the 400 block of Smith Street.

“Police officers responded and found nothing at the time,” said police Chief Eugene Tumulo. “Later in the day, we found a bullet hole in a garage door and a projectile on the floor of the garage.”

Investigators don’t believe the shooter, or shooters, had an intended target during the incident. The incident remains under investigation.
