Town Of Cortlandt Seeking Assistant Court Clerk

CORTLANDT, NY — The Town of Cortlandt Justice Court has an opening for an assistant court clerk who speaks Spanish.

The position pays from $52,427 to $58,033, according to officials.

The listing said the position entails clerical work with the responsibility for the preparation of various legal documents, forms and reports. Interaction with attorneys and the general public, familiarity with criminal and civil law, court procedures, and of legal documents and forms; ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software. The applicant must be able to communicate with the public in Spanish both in writing and orally. In addition, applicants must be able to translate and transcribe public notices into Spanish for publication. The successful candidate must be approved by Westchester County Civil Service. MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: The minimum acceptable training and experience includes possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and three years of clerical experience, one year of which must have been in an attorney's office, court, or other location where civil law, court procedures, or legal documents are reviewed and/or prepared; or completion of 30 college credits which must have included one course in Criminal Law, Business Law or a closely related legal studies course.
