Two Alum Inducted into Panas Athletic Hall of Fame Tonight

Walter Panas High School will induct two people into the school's Athletic Hall of fame at tonight's (September 23) Homecoming Game.  Being inducted are:

John Zumbach, a long time physical education educator, coach and athletic director at the school before his retirement in 2002

Lisa Savage Negvesky, a 2001 WPHS graduate who starred in field hockey and lacrosse before going on the Rutgers University

John Zumbach

Physical Education Teacher Coach * Athletic Director

1967-1970 Dryden Central School District

Phys Ed teacher, Varsity Swim Coach, Freshmen Football Coach;

1970-2002: Lakeland Central School District

Phys Ed teacher, Football Coach 1970-1986

Head Football Coach 1976-1986

Coached Boys Varsity Swimming and Girls Varsity Swim- ming for 20 years, beginning with boys swimming and end- ing with girls swimming in 2002. JV Lacrosse Coach 1975-1984

Walter Panas High School Athletic Director 1998-2002

Outstanding Accomplishments:

Assistant Varsity Football Coach of 1974 Section I Bowl Champions; Varsity Football Coach of 1981 Conference A Division II Champions;

Varsity Girls Swimming Coach of 2000 Section I Division II Champions.

Honors:

1981 Coach of the Year- Varsity Football Section One Conference A; 1998 Coach of the Year- Varsity Girls Swimming Section I; 2000 Coach of the Year- Varsity Girls Swimming- Gannett Westchester-Rockland Newspapers;

2003 Lifetime Achievement Award- Section I Swimming.

Throughout my 35 year career as an educator, coach, and Athletic Director, it was my greatest honor to work with the student athletes and coaches of the Lakeland Schools.
