Under Siege, Yet Again

Residents of Baron de Hirsch Road ask the town for help with flooding problems.

Water-weary residents along Baron de Hirsch Road petitioned the town Tuesday for relief from what they described as a chronic flooding problem.

“We’re getting more and more water, and the problem is getting worse,” said Anna D’Addona, keynoting a petition from residents.

“We need a major repair,” she said. “We need this water taken away.”

Despite promises from town officials, she maintained, “nothing has come through.”

“We need more than a Band-Aid fix,” she said.

Another resident agreed, telling the board, “You guys have the expertise and the resources . . . to divert the water.”

Puglisi promised to meet with D’Addona and her neighbors to work out a solution. “Of course the Band-Aids haven’t lasted,” Puglisi said. She asked Town Clerk JoAnn Dyckman to schedule the meeting “as soon as possible.”
