Washington Campaign Practice Found ‘Unfair’ by County Committee
The Westchester Fair Campaign Practices Committee found that the Republican mayoral candidate used a false statement in his campaign.
Peekskill Democratic Common Council candidate Darren Rigger’s complaints regarding Peekskill’s GOP mayoral candidate Tony Washington were found valid by the Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee met on Nov. 3.
According to Rigger, Washington’s “campaign literature and the web site of the Peekskill Republican Party contained false and misleading claims that Mayor Foster and the Peekskill Common Council had imposed a utility tax on the residents of Peekskill.”
The Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee, chaired by Evelyn Stock, ruled Washington’s practice on that item unfair.

“The statement was false and misleading. The utility tax was imposed by the
Peekskill City School District, not the Common Council,” the Committee ruled. They reported that the chair of the Peekskill Republican City Committee, Vincent Vesce, acknowledged that the statement was erroneous.
