Watch for Discolored Water, Teen Tickets, FEMA Center Closes
Here are five things you need to know today, Sept. 26.

1. FEMA Center Closes Today
Today is the last day that the Disaster Recovery Center operated by FEMA at the Westchester County Center will be open. Residents and businesses can still visit from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and will still be able to apply for assistance online and by phone.
With Westchester being declared a disaster area by President Obama, residents and businesses are eligible to apply for disaster aid, along with local governments and nonprofit agencies. The first step is to register: by calling FEMA’s registration number 1-800-621-3362; or online at www.disasterassistance.gov.

2. Fire Hydrant Flushing May Discolor Water

The City of Peekskill will be flushing fire hydrants today through Wednesday, which may cause discoloration. Be watchful for discolored water when using it to clean or prepare food and run the cold water for about 15 minutes until the water clears. More .
3. New York State Police Teen Buckle Up Detail in Cortlandt
On Sept. 22 the 6-hour NYSP Teen Buckle Up New York detail yielded 44 Vehicle and Traffic Law violations, 30 Seatbelts violations, 14 Other V&T violations and 1 Criminal Arrest for fourth degree Criminal Possession of Marijuana. Â
The winners of the Festa Italiana Glass Tomato trophy and $12,300 from the raffle will be presented with their prizes at 7:15 p.m. in the Peekskill Common Council Chambers.Â
5. Cortlandt Town Board Work Session
The town board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Vincent F. Nyberg General Meeting Room for a work session.
