David Fried Gives Horticultural Lecture

David Fried will be giving the lecture 'Fruits You Only Dreamed You Could Grow' on Feb. 15 at NY School Of Interior Design.

From Wave Hill:Flowering, ripening, with exotic aromas and splashes of color, nothing inspires and satisfies like your own home fruit grove. Elmore Roots Nursery proves that every yard and patio can be a small universe of edibles. February 15, join us for a horticultural lecture led by David Fried, the founder of this nursery.

Described as a pioneer in propagating and nurturing certified organic fruit and nut trees, Fried founded Elmore Roots—in Vermont just south of the Canadian border—more than 30 years ago, and it has since become a small farm that grows apples, plums, northern kiwis and pears, as well as black walnut, hazelnut and other nut trees.

An ongoing series hosted by the Friends of Horticulture Committee, Wave Hill’s horticultural lectures are devoted to landscape design and the meaning of our interactions with plants and the natural world. The series will end on March 15 with a lecture by Jack Straub (garden writer and co-founder of Hortulus Farm).
