KIDS Swimming FOR KIDS Pool Swims Make Waves for Pediatric Cancer Research Across Westchester This Summer
Swim Across America – Long Island Sound Announces Eight Pool Swims Benefiting Pediatric Cancer Research
Swim Across America – Long Island Sound is making waves this summer with its KIDS Swimming FOR KIDS pool swims, raising critical funds for pediatric cancer research. Eight pool swims across Westchester County will be held this summer, starting on June 27 and culminating with the 33rd annual Swim Across America - Long Island Sound open water swim on July 26, plus one additional pool swim the first week in August.
Why is Swim Across America supporting pediatric cancer research? Only 4% of federal cancer-research funding goes to pediatric cancers, yet nearly 16,000 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each year. To change that paradigm, Swim Across America – Long Island Sound is directing 20% of proceeds from all 2025 pool and open water swims to support pediatric cancer research with its beneficiaries Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Columbia University Medical Center, Cancer Support Team and Weill Cornell Medicine.
To raise awareness and inspire young swimmers, Swim Across America will be offering a fun buy-one, give-one campaign offering supporters a chance to get a Dash the Dolphin, Swim Across America’s mascot and plush toy for a $30 donation — for each plush toy purchased, a second plush toy will be gifted to a pediatric cancer patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering Kids and NewYork-Presbyterian Children’s Hospital through the swim’s KIDS Swimming FOR KIDS program.
