Pedestrian Hit In Fatal I-95 Accident Near Exit 14

Pelham Manor, NY— New York State Police have confirmed that a pedestrian who was struck by a delivery vehicle on the New England Thruway has died. The fatal accident occurred shortly after 5:30am on the southbound lanes of I-95 just before exit 14 for the Hutchinson River Parkway.

Emergency workers responding to the scene partially closed the southbound lanes leading to near standstill traffic for more than 2 hours during the peak of the morning commute. Patch was able to confirm that the accident had been cleared as of 10am.

Investigators are still attempting to determine the cause of the fatal accident. Police did not speculate as to why the victim was on foot on the busy interstate highway which is off limits to pedestrian traffic.
