Pelham Manor Expanding Red-Light Camera At Post Road Intersection
Lawmakers in Albany OK'd the village's request to be able to capture images on the state road.
PELHAM MANOR, NY — The New York State Legislature passed bill S9340 authorizing Pelham Manor to improve its red-light camera operation at the intersection of Pelhamdale Avenue and the Boston Post Road.
Back in 2021, the state authorized the village to install a red-light camera at that intersection.

However, only one of the roads at this intersection, Pelhamdale Avenue, is under the village's sole jurisdiction. Hence, the law did not allow the camera to capture violations occurring in the Boston Post Road portion of the intersection, since Route 1 is state-owned.

Now the oversight has been rectified.
"Affording this authorization to Pelham Manor will improve the safety of all who travel through or across the Pelhamdale Avenue/Boston Post Road intersection," said State Senator Alessandra Biaggi in an announcement about the bill. "Increased safety at this intersection means that students at the high school, customers at the shopping center, elderly residents, and everyone else who passes through this intersection can feel safe while doing so."
