PMHS Senior Named a National Merit Finalist in Scholarship Competition
Jonathan Salama, joined approximately 16,000 other students from across the country for a chance to win.
From PMHS: PMHS senior Jonathan Salama was named a National Merit Finalist in the 2017 Scholarship competition. Earlier this school year, Salama and classmate Ben Hurd were selected as semifinalists, joining approximately 16,000 other students from across the country.
About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
“We are extremely proud of both Jonathan and Ben for their hard work during this rigorous application process,” said PMHS Principal Jeannine Clark. The 15,000 finalists will be considered for 7,500 Merit Scholarships and the winners will be announced in April, May, June and July.
