PMHS Students Headed to The National Speech & Debate Championship Tournament

Four members of the PMHS Forensic Speech team earned spots in the national championship. competition.

From PMHS: Competing on March 3 and 4, four members of the PMHS Forensic Speech team earned slots to the National

Speech & Debate Championship Tournament to be held in Birmingham, Alabama in June. This is the largest group of National qualifiers in the PMHS speech team's history. The qualifiers are seniors Kate McLaughlin and Halle Tirsch (Dramatic Interpretation) who won first and second place respectively, sophomore Athena Woodfin (first place in Humorous Interpretation), and sophomore Maggie Solimine (first place in Programmed Oral Interpretation).

Junior Angelina Rosa was the alternate in the category of Student Congressional Debate. Additionally, three Pelham students earned slots to the NY State Championship to be held at Hofstra University in April: senior Halle Tirsch (Oral interpretation of Prose and Poetry), junior Angelina Rosa (Student Congress) and sophomore Lucy Bischoff (Declamation). The team will be taking a total of eleven students to states.
