PMHS Students Recognized For Excellence In Italian

They were honored recently at the Westchester County Executive Proclamation Ceremony.

PELHAM, NY — Pelham Memorial High School students Lauren Ulto and Charles Pilla have been awarded scholarships for their outstanding performance in their study of Italian.

Ulto's teacher is Elizabeth Caparotta and Pilla's teacher is Christina Prignano.

They were honored Oct. 25 at the Westchester County Executive Proclamation Ceremony held at Eastchester High school. The theme for this year’s celebration was: "The Joys of Learning Italian."

The ceremony occurs each October and is sponsored by the Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations in collaboration with the SocietĂ  Onoraria Italica. The ceremony also proclaims October as Italian Heritage and Culture Month in Westchester County. During Italian Heritage and Culture Month, we recognize the rich heritage of Americans of Italian descent and celebrate their immeasurable contributions to our Nation.
