An Online Guide to "Pick a Park"
Plainview based non-profit sponsors website that locates family-friendly parks nearby.
The Early Years Institute, a regional nonprofit organization based in Plainview, has launched a new family-friendly website to assist parents in selecting the best recreation options for their kids.
PickaPark.org, features an online inventory of the nearly 700 town, county, state and national parks throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. The information can be searched by zip code or by specific family-friendly amenities recommended by parents.
Among those 700 are nearby Bethpage State Park on Quaker Meeting House Road. The park has picnic facilities, playing fields, trails rest rooms, food and a picnic area where grills are available.
Plainview's town park on Washington Avenue also made its list with its swimming pool and various family-friendly options.
Things like rest rooms, children’s playgrounds, stroller-accessible paths, and refreshments are just a few of the various search options on the PickaPark site.
The PickaPark.org online inventory contains detailed descriptions and photographs of the parks and preserves and is accessible via mobile devices.
“PickaPark.org was created because parks and open spaces provide the richest learning experiences for children, improve the health of children and families, revitalize communities, and create future stewards of the environment.” says EYI’s President Dana Friedman.
