Mid-Island Y JCC

Ready to level up your game? The Mid Island Y JCC is hosting a Basketball Clinic with Jordan Rabinovich, where young athletes can sharpen their shooting, ball handling, and defensive skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Open to all skill levels for students in grades K–11, with participants grouped by age and experience. Sessions are held Sundays from 3:45–5:00 pm. The fee is $36 for members and $54 for non-members. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Additional days or times may become available, and all events are subject to change.

Discover the magic of fused glass art at the Mid Island Y JCC Adult Center this winter. Join professional artist Kelly Schulte-Smith for a hands-on evening workshop that introduces the basics of glass fusing, a creative process where glass is fired at high temperatures in a kiln to create beautiful, functional art.
Participants will design and create their own decorative glass coasters, choosing to make a set of two or four. All materials are included, and finished pieces will be kiln-fired with a pickup date arranged after the class.

Adult children caring for aging parents are invited to a free evening of education, connection, and support at the Mid Island Y JCC Adult Center. This special program is designed to help caregivers better understand the dementia journey and feel more confident navigating the challenges that come with it.
The evening begins with a relaxed “Whine” &amp; Cheese social hour, offering caregivers a chance to connect, share experiences, and unwind. A presentation titled “Your Parent’s Dementia Journey: What to Expect and How to Help” will follow, highlighting common symptoms across the progression of dementia, why certain behaviors occur, and practical, compassionate strategies for responding. The program concludes with Cookies &amp; Camaraderie, allowing time to reflect and connect with fellow caregivers.

Adults are invited to take part in the Daytime Mosaic Series at the Mid Island Y JCC Adult Center. Led by artist and instructor Kelly Schulte-Smith, this six-week creative workshop introduces mosaic artistry and techniques. Participants will create and complete their own custom mosaic house number plaque in a supportive, hands-on setting.
Classes meet Thursdays, January 15–February 26, 2026, from 10:00 am–1:00 pm (no class on February 19). Participants attend all six sessions. Space is limited and registration is required.

Get ready for a high-energy, full-body workout this winter with Boxing Boot Camp at the Mid Island Y JCC! This action-packed class combines boxing bag combinations with boot camp–style cardio, core work, and TRX training to build strength, speed, and endurance.
Classes take place Thursdays from 7:00–8:00 PM on January 15 &amp; 29, February 12 &amp; 19, and March 5 &amp; 19, 2026. Each session includes six classes and is limited to 12 participants.
Cost: $150 non-members / $100 members per session. Drop-ins available if space permits ($30 non-members / $20 members).

We’re Dragonfly Cares, a group of providers offering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Speech-Language Therapy across Long Island. Our goal is to support children as well as the caregivers around them, while emphasizing community engagement and transparency. Our goal from the start has been to create a supportive network and uplifting environment for the families and therapists we work with. No more one-size fits all models, we provide more and always will. Each group is led by a BCBA and includes 1:1 support from a trained behavior technician. Groups are thoughtfully formed based on each child’s individual needs and skill sets. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your child to build social skills, communication, and more—all in a fun and supportive environment!
