Adult children caring for aging parents are invited to a free evening of education, connection, and support at the Mid Island Y JCC Adult Center. This special program is designed to help caregivers better understand the dementia journey and feel more confident navigating the challenges that come with it.
The evening begins with a relaxed “Whine” & Cheese social hour, offering caregivers a chance to connect, share experiences, and unwind. A presentation titled “Your Parent’s Dementia Journey: What to Expect and How to Help” will follow, highlighting common symptoms across the progression of dementia, why certain behaviors occur, and practical, compassionate strategies for responding. The program concludes with Cookies & Camaraderie, allowing time to reflect and connect with fellow caregivers.
