Elderly Man Killed In Plainview House Fire
The Plainview Fire Department said they did their best to save the man's life.

Firefighters were unable to rescue an elderly man who was killed in a Plainview house fire due to the extent of the blaze on Saturday afternoon, police say.
Firefighters and police responded to the house fire on Roxton Road at 2:03 p.m. Two officers and a fire chief attempted to enter the home, but were forced to exit after they were overcome with smoke, police say.
The homeowner, an 84-year-old man, was unable to escape from the blaze and was found deceased by fire department personnel, authorities say.

The Plainview Fire Department said they, along with the other departments providing mutual aid, did their best to save the man's life and the home.
Plainview, Hicksville, Bethpage, Jericho and Syosset Fire departments all responded to the blaze with 10 fire apparatus. It took about 75 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
