Make Plans Now for Verdi at Farmingdale State
Soprano Kelli Butler to perform some of Italian Romantic composer's greatest hits.
Farmingdale State College is planning to celebrate an opera legend's 200th anniversary next month with a free concert.
Selections from the operas of Giuseppe Verdi is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famed Romantic Opera composer and, accordingly, the campus will celebrate with a performance by coloratura soprano, Kelli Butler.Butler, a rising star in the New York area's opera community, will perform selections from "Aida", "Rigoletto" and "La Traviata," among other works, will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Eugene McCoy. Farmingdale’s Dr. Barry Capella will provide an entertaining introduction to the program.
Organized by Dr. Matilde Fava and Dr. Beverly Kahn, the program is part of the fifth observance of Italian Heritage Month.
