Chanukah Party On Saturday To Launch Program, Honor Those Lost In Hamas Attacks

The Manetto Hill Jewish Center is launching a year-long program to honor those lost in the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas Attacks.

PLAINVIEW, NY — The Manetto Hill Jewish Center launches a year-long program to honor those lost in the Hamas attacks of Oct. 7, 2023, and their aftermath — one of whom was IDF soldier Omer Neutra from Plainview, whose remains were returned to Israel on Nov. 2.

The opening event of the program will begin with a Chanukah Party, including dinner and Israeli dancing, on Saturday at the synagogue at Manetto Hill Jewish Center.

"We invite the entire community to join us as we remember, learn, and take action together," organizers at Manetto Hill Jewish Center said.

The year-long 'DEAR' Program is a commemorative program that will include rededicating one of their current Torahs in memory of the victims.

  • Dedicating a Torah to the memory of the victims of October 7th.
  • Educating the community about the challenges Jews face in Israel and around the world.
  • Advocating for Israel’s right to exist and for the safety of Jews everywhere.
  • Repairing the Torah and our broken hearts.

The Manetto Hill Jewish Center said there will be events throughout the new year and opportunities for reflection, education, and advocacy.
