New Bleachers the Setting for Holy Trinity’s Opening Mass

Annual "Mass on the Grass" held on football field

On the first Thursday of the school year, the entire Holy Trinity community attends the "Mass of the Holy Spirit," celebrated to seek the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit in the coming year.

Since it is held outside on Trinity's football field, it has been dubbed the “Mass on the Grass.”

With over 1,300 strong in the bleachers and a 150-voice choir on the field, it was a beautiful morning, despite the heat and humidity.

“The entire community looks forward to this great tradition and it is always noted how solemn and respectful everyone in attendance is…at times you could hear a pin drop,” said Ann-Marie Hoher, the school’s music ministry director.

“Even the neighbors and those driving by joined; either by coming out of their homes, stopping on the roadside or beeping their horns in support of the school.”

This year, the liturgy had an extra special touch, as the students and faculty were able to sit on the new bleachers that were installed over the summer. The bleachers will be officially dedicated during the school’s Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Oct. 19.
