• 'We're Trying To Look Out For Our Neighbors:' LI Residents Protest ICE After Renee Good's Death (patch.com) — Plainview residents gathered on a Route 135 overpass to protest ICE following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, saying they fear similar tactics could reach their own community. Led by Engage Long Island founder Rachel Klein, about 30 locals held signs, denounced what they see as escalating immigration enforcement, and discussed plans for rapid response support while stressing safety for neighbors and immigrants.
   

• Strike Averted For LI Northwell Hospitals As NYSNA Nurses Signed Tentative Agreements (patch.com) — Nurses at Northwell Plainview Hospital, along with Syosset and Huntington, reached tentative contract agreements that headed off a possible strike, easing concerns for Plainview patients and staff. Union leaders say they pushed hard for safer staffing, better patient care, and stronger benefits, while Northwell Health calls the deal a reaffirmation of its commitment to nurses and the community.
   

• Man Arrested After Punching Teen During HS Basketball Game: Police (patch.com) — Plainview residents may be relieved to know a nurses’ strike was averted at Northwell Plainview Hospital after a tentative agreement was reached, keeping services running. The Long Island news roundup also highlights several recent crime investigations, including a teen punched at a basketball game, a dog found in a suitcase, and a synagogue grand larceny case.
