Summer Reading Talk; Chess Workshop

These are the top events happening in and near Plainview Thursday:

1. The finale of the town's summer reading program is set for Thursday the at Woodbury-Syosset Park's community center. It's the third of three interactive discussions about "Wonder," by R.J. Palacio. 7 p.m.

2. The Plainview Library  hosts a chess workshop for kids entering grades 3 and up Thursday at 7 p.m. Beginners are welcome. Separate registration for each session.

3. The Holy Family festival continues Thursday and runs through Saturday. The event draws people from all over the Hicksville area. Nightly beginning at 6 p.m. Details here.
