‘Biscuit’ Author Sparks Creativity at Briarcliff’s Todd Elementary
Author Alyssa Capucilli delighted kindergarten and first-grade students during a recent visit.

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY - Kindergarten and first-grade students at Briarcliff Manor’s Todd Elementary School were delighted to interact with Alyssa Capucilli, author of the popular “Biscuit” book series featuring a small, yellow puppy.
“Our students got to learn how [Ms. Capucilli] creates her stories,” said Todd Elementary School teacher librarian Tara Phethean. “She showed the students her writer’s notebook, used for jotting down ideas, working out stories and choosing oh-so-carefully the best words.”

Capucilli said that she calls her writer’s notebook her “treasure keeper” and shared details with her captive audience about how books are made, from writing to printing and binding. She brought along a sample “press sheet,” which is folded, cut and bound to make a finished book.
This event was made possible through the generous support of the Todd PTA.
