It starts with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m., but get there early!

Participants should stop by the Swan Lake kiosk to enter to win a prize for best horse costume or best dog costume and then assemble at 12:45 p.m.

Spectators are encouraged to arrive early as well to grab some cider and find a spot along the lake to watch. Bring a reusable mug to cut down on waste, the park rangers urge.

Following the parade, guests can meet the horses and riders and take photos. Winners of the costume contest will be announced at 2 p.m.

The Rockefeller State Park Preserve is known for its carriage roads and has long been a place for equestrians of all types. The Rockefeller family established the network of carriage roads, now spanning over 50 miles and designated as a National Historic Site, thanks to John D. Rockefeller Sr. and Jr.’s love of carriage riding.

The main entrance is at 125 Phelps Way, Pleasantville, NY 10570.

Rain date: Dec. 18. Announcements will be made via email and social media.
