HV Unions Recruiting Apprentices Day 2: Wastewater Systems Specialists

Several local unions start apprenticeship drives in 2023, and the Hudson Valley Patches will feature 1 a day this holiday week.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — New York City Environmental Protection will conduct a recruitment drive through 2023 for two Wastewater Systems Operation Specialist apprentices, and residents of the Hudson Valley are welcome to apply.

Applications can be obtained starting Jan. 1. They can be found and completed online during the recruitment period by typing Job ID 562162 in the search bar. All applications must be received no later than Dec. 31.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED).
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License that meets agency requirements to operate company vehicles as needed.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
