Photographer Wins National Awards for Patch Photos
Stu Bayer, a Buchanan resident and Patch photographer, recently received two awards from the NPPA.
Photojournalist Stuart Bayer has received two awards from the National Press Photographers Association Inc. for photographs in both Pleasantville and Yorktown for Patch in recent months.
Bayer received third place in the Feature/Multiple Photo category for his series of photographs of the Westchester Crossword Puzzle Tournament in Pleasantville. It was published in this article on Sept. 21, 2012.
"Interesting event, we all like the first image from the series," judges wrote.

Bayer also received second place in the Feature/Single Photo category for his photograph from the Yorktown Tractor Parade. The picture was published on Sept. 8, 2012 in this article.

"Fun photo to look at. There was some debate as to whether it should have been cropped tighter loosing the tractor on the right," the three judges wrote about Bayer's photograph.

Bayer lives in Buchanan with my wife and son. He is assistant chief and EMT in the Buchanan Fire Department.
He has worked as a photojournalist in Westchester for more than 25 years. His work has won awards from the National Press Photographer's Association, New York Press Photographer's Association, New York Associated Press, Pictures of the Year International and the Society of Newspaper Design. His work has also appeared in Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, US News and World report and USA Today.
