PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Westchester police have tracked down a suspect who jumped out of a car after a traffic stop and ran into Pleasantville.

He was tracked to a yard on Pollywiggle Lane, said spokesman Kieran O'Leary.

"This guy was on the run, on a very hot day, for three hours. He lost his shoes and his shirt along the way," O'Leary said. "We had officers in cars, on ATVs, and on foot searching for him the entire time. Our Aviation Unit also assisted in the search and provided info after sighting him several times ... An officer with a tracking dog ultimately located the suspect behind a residence."

Westchester police were assisted with the search, and with establishing a perimeter to contain the suspect in the area, by Pleasantville, Mount Pleasant and New York State police.

The incident started when the Real Time Crime Center broadcast an alert at 11:24 a.m. that a stolen Ford SUV was traveling on Route 35 in Lewisboro.

The car had been reported stolen out of Ridgefield, Connecticut.

A WCPD sergeant located the vehicle on the southbound Saw Mill at Green Lane in Bedford and attempted a traffic stop but the driver would not comply. The SUV was brought to a stop south of Marble Avenue — and the driver jumped out and ran off.

He was tracked to Graham Hills Park in Mount Pleasant. The park was cleared after a search.

That search continued in neighborhoods adjacent to the Saw Mill River Parkway in Pleasantville.
