Accused PC Thief Hit with $10,000 Bail After Kohl's Theft Attempt

A Port Chester man failed to make a $10,000 cash bail after he allegedly got caught stealing $590 worth of goods from Kohls in Port Chester last week. Store security watched the 31-year-old man allegedly attempt to steal three pairs of Nike sneakers, one pair of Adidas sneakers, three fragrance sets and two sets of white metal jewelry by stuffing them in a black duffle bag on June 13 at 12:54 p.m. Kohl’s security detained him until police arrived.

The man was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and police discovered that there was a warrant out for the man’s arrest because he had skipped a court appearance for a previous petty larceny arrest last year. He was arrested for allegedly stealing $170 worth of copper flashing from Home Depot in February, 2012.

The judge set his bail at $10,000 cash, which he did not make, and he was transferred to county jail. The man is due back in Port Chester court on July 12.
