The Empty School Bag project for Helping Hands for the Homeless & Hungry, Inc. held the first day of its annual event to fill more than 2,000 backpacks for students in need at Resurrection Church today. Tomorrow the volunteer work continues from 10 to 12:30 p.m. In the same spot.
"It is a tremendous community event, drawing people of all ages from across Westchester County to help pack backpacks with new school supplies for students throughout the Westchester County area who are living in homeless shelters and alternative living arrangements," said Janet Meyers, publicity chair for Helping Hands.
Thanks to Janet for sending these photos of today's efforts.
