Grand Opening is Hush-Hush, But Plans For New Store Are On Target
Company officials would only say that its newest 89,000-square-foot department store will open sometime "this year."

PORT CHESTER, NY — Target officials are playing their cards close to the vest but plans for the new Target in Port Chester appear to be coming together quickly.
The giant Target logo on the storefront in the Gateway shopping center is the first clue that a new shopping experience is nigh. A peek in the store window offers a glimpse of just what that shopping experience might look like. Though the shelves remain bare, an in-store Starbucks and CVS/pharmacy counter appear ready to dispense just what the doctor ordered, for both medicine and caffeine-related needs.

"I can confirm Target has plans to open a store in Port Chester this year," a Target spokesperson told Patch on Thursday. "We’re excited to bring an easy, safe and convenient shopping experience to new guests in the New York community with this new Target store. The store will be approximately 89,000 square feet. As we get closer to opening the store, we’ll have more specific details to share — including how the shopping experience will be tailored to serve local guests and the grand opening date."

If the dozens of job openings posted online and the final touches being added to the merchandise display areas are any indication, those grand opening plans will be sooner rather than later. Perhaps more importantly, rumor has it that curbside pickup customers will be able to place a skinny-no-fat-latte with their order.
