Sidewalk Repair Begins

The City of Rye will start its sidewalk repair work on Milton Road this week, probably in the middle or end of the week, said City Engineer Ryan Coyne.

The work, constructing new curbs and sidewalks, will start near Dock Deli on Milton Road between Dearborn and Hewlitt Avenue. They plan to have both lanes open but each will be more narrow while the crews make the sidewalk repairs, a job that should take a few weeks, Coyne said. After the Milton work is done, crews will move on to other smaller sections of sidewalk that need repair.

The work is the result of a $1.67 million bond referendum that voters approved last November for the construction, reconstruction and improvements to city streets.
