4 Men Charged W/ DWI In Suffolk: Police

Police are cracking down on impaired drivers during the three-day holiday, officials say.

PORT JEFFERSON — Four men were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated between Friday night and Saturday morning in Port Jefferson, Suffolk police said.

As part of a holiday DWI/DUI crackdown, officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau, New York State Troopers and Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs conducted a joint operation targeting impaired drivers from Friday from 11:10 p.m. to Saturday at 2:25 a.m. at a sobriety checkpoint at the corner of Route 112 and Hallock Avenue, police said.

A total of 472 vehicles went through the Port Jefferson Station checkpoint, SCPD added.

Jean Alouder, 28, of Worcester, Massachusetts; Daniel George, 29, of Centereach; Elijah Bryant, 41, of Port Jefferson; and William Renner, 52, of St. James were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and they are set to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip Saturday.

SCPD will continue to have sobriety checkpoints, but it will not release where or when they will be.
