5 Charged In Underage Booze, Nicotine Sales In Port Jefferson Area: Police

The tickets were issued during a compliance check in Port Jefferson and Mt. Sinai, Suffolk police said.

MOUNT SINAI, NY — Five people were charged in connection with selling alcohol and e-liquid nicotine products to underage buyers during compliance checks at businesses in the 6th Precinct area on Thursday, Suffolk police said.

Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers investigated the illegal sale of the products, checking nine businesses in the Port Jefferson Station and Mt. Sinai areas.

During the investigation, three people were arrested and charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor, for selling alcohol to minors, including:

• A 29-year-old from New Hyde Park who is an employee of Sunoco on Route 112 in Port Jeff Station.
• A 21-year-old from Port Jeff Station who is an employee of Port Jefferson Grapes & Grains on Route 112 in Port Jeff Station.
• A 35-year-old from Mt. Sinai who is an employee of Sunoco on Route 25A in Mt. Sinai.

Two people were arrested and charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, also a misdemeanor, for selling e-liquid nicotine to minors, including:
• A 29-year-old from Selden who works on Patchogue Road in Port Jeff Station.
• A 25-year-old from Riverhead who works in Mount Sinai Smoke Shop on Route
25A in Mt. Sinai.

All five were issued Field Appearance Tickets returnable to First District Court in Central Islip on June 7.
