Applications Being Accepted For Memorial Scholarship
The $2,000 scholarship is open to all graduating seniors on Long Island.

The Greater Long Island Running Club announced that it would be accepting nominations for it's 30 annual 'Herb Grayson Memorial Scholarship Award.' All graduating seniors that reside in Suffolk or Nassau County can be nominated for the $2,000 prize.
“The qualifications for the Scholarship Award are very clear,” observed Running Club Scholarship Chair Erica Gassen said in a statement. “We are not necessarily interested in the star of the track or cross country team, but are more interested in the youngster who helped raise the funds to send the team to an out-of-state meet, or who helped to organize a community based road race. The key is service, not athletic prowess.”
Although the organization did not say how many awards they would be giving out this year, they did confirm in a phone interview that winners will receive s $2,000 scholarship that they hope is used to help ease some of the burden of college costs.
