Loved Ones Mourn Central Islip Resident Found Dead On Christmas

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A Central Islip resident who was found dead on Christmas Day was remembered on Thursday for their vivacious spirit.
Kevin Azru, 28, who also went by "Kay", "Chanel" or "KC", was found dead Dec. 25 in Islip, Suffolk Police confirmed with Patch.
A memorial service was held Thursday at 5 p.m. at Church Baluarte De La Verdad, located at 312 E Suffolk Ave. in Central Islip. A cemetery service for Azru also took place on Friday at 10 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, located at 3 Moffit Blvd. in Bay Shore.

Azru, who went by "he/him", "she/her" and "they/them"pronouns according to friend Jonathan Nunez-Agi, was described as a "a beautiful soul," and a "happy, positive, good hearted, very funny and outgoing" person.
Nunez-Agi, a longtime friend of Azru, told Patch that he was a vivacious person who lit up every room.

"Literally one of the most outlandish cheerful persons you could ever meet," said Nunez-Agi.
Azru also had "a passion for fashion and music" and had big dreams of walking down the runway.
When Nunez - Agi experienced the loss of a family member in 2010, Azru was a true friend and supported him.

"It was the kind of silly personality that she carried though that made us all smile and love her," said Nunez - Agi. "She was infectious with her laughter. If she laughed and you didn’t, there was clearly something wrong with you."
Police told Patch that Azru's death remains under investigation.
