Submit Port Jefferson Patch’s Next Facebook Cover Photo

With Facebook’s new timeline came a new feature, the big, splashy cover photo at the top of every page. This left us with a problem: what image deserves to be the photo that most people will first see when they come to our Facebook page? What is it that best describes Port Jefferson?

Is it the harbor? Main Street? A montage of images? Or is it some abstract image or work of art?

We have had some ideas but everyone has a different creative eye so we’re asking our readers to submit their best photo to become our Facebook cover image for the month of May.

Make sure you have either taken the photo yourself or have permission to use the photo. If it’s a piece of art that you have scanned or photographed, it should be one that you have created or have permission to use.

Whatever it is, be creative and show us what you think represents Port Jefferson for Patch.

The image must be no smaller than 72 dpi and 850 pixels wide by 315 pixels high. Remember no matter what the dimensions of the original image the cropping area of the Facebook cover is that size.

Take a look at our current Facebook cover photo to get a sense of the dimensions. Also remember that small portion of the lower left hand side of the image will be covered by our logo.

To enter, simply email editor Lon Cohen at lon.cohen@patch.com with your image attached. Put “Port Jeff Patch Facebook Cover Photo” in the subject line.

We will accept entries until noon on Friday, April 27. On Monday, April 30 we will announce the winner in a post on Patch along with any runner ups. We will post the new Facebook cover image on our page starting Tuesday May 1.
