Incident Report: Beach Assault, Truck Theft Reported in Port Jefferson

The Suffolk County Police Department responded to the following incidents between July 7 and July 12.

• Suffolk police investigated an assault on a beach near Danford's in Port Jefferson at 12:30 a.m. on July 9. The victim of the assault reported that a group of men began beating him after they asked him if he had any cocaine and he said no. The victim was able to run away and call police; Port Jefferson Rescue treated him for two cuts that needed stitches.

• A resident of Sheep Pasture Road in Port Jefferson reported that someone stole his pickup truck and tree-cutting equipment sometime between July 6 at 5 p.m. and July  at 12:20 a.m. The truck, a white 2000 GMC, had the keys inside and has not yet been found.

• A resident of Oakland Avenue in Port Jefferson Station reported that the windows and lights were smashed on his 1967 Cat payloader, which was parked in a secluded area near his home. The incident occurred sometime while the victim was on vacation between June 30 and July 7.

• Police responded to a confrontation between two tenants at a residence on Oakland Avenue in Port Jefferson Station on July 11 at around 8:30 p.m. One man punched the other's eye, though that man refused medical attention.

• A person parked in the outpatient lot at Mather Hospital reported finding that the driver's side door of her car was smashed at 10:20 p.m. on July 8. The victim reported that the car's center console had been opened but nothing was missing from the car.

• Police responded to a confrontation between two men in the parking lot of St. Charles Hospital on July 8 at 8 p.m. One man was visiting his girlfriend in the hospital when he was approached by her ex-boyfriend, who punched his car and caused damage to a mirror.
