Man Seriously Hurt As Firework Detonates In Lap Inside Apartment In East Patchogue: Police
He was taken by medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, Suffolk police say.
EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — A man was seriously hurt when a firework he was handling detonated in his lap, injuring his groin, inside an East Patchogue apartment on Sunday night, Suffolk police said.
The 65-year-old man was handling fireworks at the Pine Neck Avenue home, when it unexpectedly detonated at around 5:40 p.m., according to police.
The man, who lived in the apartment, was taken by medevac helicopter to Stony Brook
University Hospital for treatment, police said, adding that no other injuries were reported.
