Jets Release Native Long Island Safety Elijah Riley: Report
He had fallen on the depth chart after other players were signed, Newsday reported.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Former Newfield High School star Elijah Riley was released by the Jets on Tuesday, according to the team's website.
Riley, a Port Jefferson native, was a safety for the Jets in seven out of the last eight games last season, however, he had fallen on the team's depth chart when Jordan Whitehead was signed and they re-signed LaMarcus Joyner, Newsday reported.
Riley, who was signed off the Eagles’ practice squad last year as a starter, had 45 tackles and a sack in his seven of his starts with the Jets and he missed one game due to a concussion, the outlet reported. On Dec. 19., he was injured during a game against the Dolphins and needed his neck immobilized, according to the outlet.
