'Handmaid Resistance' Immigration Policy Protest Planned Sunday In Port Jefferson Station

Organizers say it's to show they "are not going to be complicit with people being taken off the streets and out of their homes."

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — A protest is planned — dubbed the “Handmaid Resistance Rally — on Sunday in Port Jefferson Station, according to mobilize.com.

The protest will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the corner of routes 112 and 347, with the red train car.

Organizers for the rally, volunteers from Indivisible, say its purpose is to show President Donald Trump's administration that participants "are not going to be complicit with people being taken off the streets and out of their homes, we are going to fight for our rights, and freedoms, and not back down or bow to a corrupt government."

The post goes on to say that "a core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action," adding, "We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values."

Sunday's protest is not the only one planned in the Brookhaven Town area in coming weeks.

A "Scratch Out ICE" rally is planned for Sunday, Dec. 21 outside of The Home Depot on Middle Country Road in Coram.
