Here are the top three stories in Port Jefferson today:
- The Suffolk County Police Department is seeking the public's help in tracking down three suspects in a Commack jewelry store break-in. According to authorities, three men broke into the store — about a half-hour out from Port Jefferson — on May 16 and escaped with an undisclosed amount of merchandise. Anyone with information on the suspects or their whereabouts is asked to call 1-800-220-TIPS or submit an anonymous tip online. (Daily Voice)
- On Saturday afternoon, the Port Jefferson Royals' incredible season came to a close at Cantine Field in Saugerties. Less than a day after the Royals won their first Long Island championship since 2008, the team lost to Chester in the NYSPHSAA Class C southeast regional baseball final. "It sounds so cliche, but these memories are what high school sports are all about,” said Coach Jesse Rosen. “Taking a three-hour bus ride less than 12 hours after the LIC is something all of us will remember forever.” (Subscription: Newsday)
- Rise and shine! Start your morning off right with a free cardio sculpt class, courtesy of the Port Jefferson Free Library. Head over to Heritage Park at 10:00 a.m. today with your mat or towel, then join Debbie Kryzminski from Fitness Figures for a series of cardio-based strength and sculpting exercises. (Burbio)
