
A Long Island Rail Road train struck a person on the tracks west of Port Jefferson Station Wednesday evening, railroad officials said.
The train involved was the 4:19 p.m. from Penn Station due at Port Jefferson at 6:05 p.m.
"The trespasser has been removed by emergency personnel, however, a police investigation continues," the LIRR said in a tweet posted at 6:35 p.m. The extent of the person's injuries is unclear at this time.

LIRR service is suspended between Stony Brook and Port Jefferson Station. Buses are expected to arrive in Stony Brook at 7:30 p.m. to transport stranded passengers.
